About Poulin Edgar Construction Rentals Ltd

Born in Chelmsford Ontario in 1941, Edgar was the eldest son of Arcade and Evangeline Poulin who owned the only gas station and convenience store between Chelmsford and Sudbury. Arcade had his hand in several businesses, one of which was construction and Edgar went to work for his father at the age of 15 operating a bulldozer and dump truck. Within a few years he purchased the dozer and truck from his father and set out on his own.

In 1958, Edgar moved to North Bay and founded Poulin Edgar Construction Rentals Ltd. Since that time, the firm has been servicing North Bay and area excavating for commercial and residential buildings, preparing sites for roads, parking lots and other infrastructure as well as supplying local, municipal and federal projects with various aggregates and heavy equipment rentals.

Still, to this day, Edgar oversees daily operations throughout our quarry and pits and often can be seen operating one of his many pieces of equipment or inspecting the many crushing and screening plants required to produce a quality product. He has in recent years, however, narrowed the firm’s objectives primarily to the manufacture and supply of various aggregate and sand products needed to construct commercial infrastructure, residential homes and landscaping right down to the “weekend do-it-your-selfer” looking to tackle his own home project. Over the winter months, he spends most of his time in the repair shop and office, overseeing the maintenance and repairs of the equipment and plants in time for spring thaw that brings with it another busy construction season.
